How BirdAlert keeps birds away
BirdAlert is a compact sound bird deterrent system that listens for and analyzes bird activity in a specific area. When it identifies a specific bird species by its calls, the system issues that same species' distress call to scare them away. This clever technology leverages the biological behavior of birds, which issue distress calls when they are attacked by predators, making the birds believe the environment is unsafe.
Unlike other bird deterrent systems that operate on a timer, the BirdAlert system only activates when it detects a specific bird's call. This minimizes the risk of birds getting used to and ignoring the sound. The system uses a SIM card to store its library of bird calls. Currently, BirdAlert recognizes the following bird species:
- Crows
- Canada Geese
- All gulls
- Starlings
